2-Sentence Horror Story Contest

It was a dark and stormy night... when the University of Regina (U of R) - Dr. John Archer Library & Archives decided to host the inaugural 2-Sentence Horror Story Contest for all U of R, Campion, Luther and FNUNIV students. The contest begins Monday, October 3, 2022 and submissions must be submitted online by Friday, October 14, 2022. Horror story submissions may be about any terrifying topic or gruesome subject, but must be original and two sentences (400 characters or less) in length.
 
Stories will be voted upon as a blind review (with identifying information removed) by library faculty and staff.

Two lucky wordsmiths will be chosen to receive gift cards. Library swag bags will be given to any runner-ups as a consolation prize.

Contest Rules:

  1. Participants must be registered students at the U of R or federated colleges (UofR/FNUNIV email is required on survey)
  2. Entries must be submitted by Friday, October 14 at 11:59 p.m.
  3. Winners will be announced on Monday, October 24
  4. May submit multiple entries, but can only win one prize
  5. Stories that do not follow the 2-sentence rule will be disqualified
  6. Submissions that violate privacy, promote illegal activity, or incite violence will be disqualified
  7. By submitting your give permission to the Dr. John Archer Library & Archives to reproduce and use your submission (using your name and department/faculty), either wholly or in part, in any medium (including but not limited to publications and on the internet) for promotional purposes.

2022 Contest

Congratulations to the winners of the Dr. John Archer Library & Archives inaugural 2-Sentence Horror Story Contest! Students were invited to submit original horror stories about any terrifying topic or gruesome subject, in two sentences and 400 characters (or less) in length. Entries were judged in a blind review by a panel of Library staff, with the two winners awarded a University Campus Store gift card, and the runner-up receiving a bag of Archer goodies. As I opened the Archer Library's link to the 2-sentence horror story contest, there it was, staring me in the face among the contest rules: 400 characters or LESS (not fewer)? Oh, the horror!
