Archives and Special Collections accepts materials from university faculty, staff, and outside individuals and organizations. Our collecting focus currently includes materials relating to the history of the University, Regina College, the visual arts and literature in Saskatchewan, journalism, and the environmental movement.

All donation offers receive serious consideration by Archives and Special Collections. Donations of material are accepted with the understanding that the University becomes the sole owner, and reserves the ultimate right to determine retention, location, organization, and other considerations related to its use or disposition.

Tax receipts may be issued by the University for donated archival materials. As per the University of Regina’s Gift Acceptance Policy GOV-030-005, independent appraisals are required for all gifts-in-kind that require a tax receipt. Appraisal costs are the responsibility of the donor. Archives and Special Collections does not arrange or perform appraisals for any archival materials, however we will assist in identifying qualified NAAB appraisers for interested donors.

Archives and Special Collections contains various collections that have been certified as cultural property by the Canadian Cultural Property Export Review Board. Archives and Special Collections no longer offers to coordinate applications for designation as cultural property except in the most exceptional of circumstances.

In order to issue a tax receipt Archives and Special Collections requires the donor to sign a donation agreement.
