Textbooks For All

Recognizing the burden that textbook costs place upon students, the Dr. John Archer Library partnered in 2016 with the University of Regina Students’ Union (URSU) to pilot a textbook lending program. Initial funding from Archer and URSU was supplemented with contributions from the Provost’s Office, the University’s ten Faculties, Student Affairs, UR International, Human Resources, the Graduate Students’ Association, and First Nations University totaling over $45,000.

In 2017, URSU made a further contribution of $10,000 and in January 2019, the Archer Library contributed another $15,000 to ensure the continuation of this valuable program.

In 2021, the Archer Library partnered with University Advancement and Communications to highlight Textbooks For All as part of the University’s fall fundraising campaign. Donors large and small responded generously, and the funding will ensure that the program will continue to support our students for the next few years.

Students or instructors may request that any required textbook be purchased by the Library and made available as a reserve item. If you'd like to make a textbook recommendation, please submit it through the "Purchase Request" form.

Please see our "Borrowing Policies" page for details about loan length and renewals of Textbooks for All titles held on reserve.
