Library award winner testimonals

Lindsay Demchuk, 2024

"I obtained the French-language exhibition catalogue, written by Suzanne Page, through the Archer Library. [Quick Find] significantly informed my report...I relied on the Archer Library for the catalogues of “Regina Clay: Worlds in the Making” (organized by Timothy Long), “Joe Fafard” (Terrence Heath) [and others]. Access to exhibition catalogues is immensely important to art history research and I am grateful for this access.”

Grace Fischer, 2023

“I am pleased with the library’s resources in ensuring students’ success at the university. These services, especially being able to make appointments with librarians, have helped increase my grades and knowledge of how to find correct sources. Knowing how to find scholarly sources is essential and will help me throughout my academic career at the University of Regina…”

Breanna Hemmelgarn, 2022

“I consider myself extremely fortunate to be granted access to the vast resources available via the Dr. John Archer Library. The library is so much more than an electronic collection of information that can be accessed remotely; it is also a welcoming environment that is filled with knowledgeable and understanding experts that are always willing and ready to assist students like me”

Bonnie Marko, 2021

“Upon entering the University, I was reluctant to use the University of Regina’s library databases to find papers, presentations, and analyses. Moving into my last year of University, I have found out that library services are essential for any successful research and academic writings… in the absence of appropriate skills required in searching for the right information, the internet can become a useless tool for a researcher. The University of Regina library services has equipped me with this unique skill required of any academician.”

Idealla Maeland, 2020

“The library staff are always happy to assist me in finding the right books and articles, as well as helping me get a book I need through interlibrary loan.  They also helped me in properly citing this paper as I was using a citation format that was unfamiliar to me.  Each resource that was provided to me by the library and the assistance that the librarians provided allowed me to write my essay... I am very proud of the final result of this essay (and, of course, the grade it received) and I could not have done without the Archer Library’s resources and staff.”

Jessica Leeper, 2019

“I gained invaluable skills researching from online, primary, secondary, and archival research. I am also more knowledgeable in how to cite and reference multiple, complex sources that fall under ambiguous categories of type.  I improved my ability to connect multiple threads of research from contexts arching over hundreds of years to offer full insight into an artifact. I strengthened my confidence and familiarity in maneuvering around the various services and resources Archer Library offers.”

Saadia Burki, 2018

“I was afraid of not finding enough information at first but quickly realized that the Library’s resources are very helpful in finding all the necessary information…(and) by opening up to the Library and the resources it has, I feel more comfortable approaching research projects and starting them early.”

Tea Gerbeza, 2017

“The amazing help, and resources provided by the Archer Library gave me both the material and the courage I needed to complete one of the best works I have produced in my University career… I could not have done it without the library or its resources, and I feel right at home whenever I venture back into those aisles full of great books.”

Carrie Kotylak, 2016

“I feel that due to the knowledge and assistance I received from the Archer Library, I have increased my research efficiency and I have learned to narrow the focus of my enquiry to hone in on the content of my thesis idea. Without the support of librarians and the immense amount of material that Archer Library is able to supply, I would never have been able to achieve this grade (82%) in such a demanding course."

Zoe Beaulieu Prpick, 2015

“I could not possibly have completed my essay without Archer’s many resources….The programs and resources the library offers, in addition to the research course which its staff headed, provided an invaluable frame of support and training for academic research.”

Avnee Paranjapee, 2014

“While the Archer Library has an excellent collection, with such a highly specific area of focus, I ended up making extensive use of the Interlibrary Loan system, which provided me with access to materials from libraries across the country. Though this system was initially confusing, with the help of the library staff, I soon found it to be an extremely useful and highly efficient service.”

 Zina Scott, 2013

“I was very grateful to the library staff and valuable resources that the library had to offer that helped me research, write, and reference my paper.  My experience at the library gave me the confidence that I will need to complete challenging papers like this in the future, as well as the reassurance that someone is always around to help if I should need it.”

John Mailhot, 2012

“The library helped me structure, research and cite my paper, all of which made the process as a whole much simpler than my experiences in the past. Since gaining the new research skills from the library, my papers now take me half as much time to write and the process far less stressful.”
