Government Publications Collection Policy
2.1 Core collections
- Publications produced by the Government of Saskatchewan
- Publications produced by any government jurisdiction that pertain to Indigenous Peoples, primarily in Canada
2.2 Selective collections
- Current and historical publications that support research and teaching.
- Current and historical publications mirroring archival collections including:
- Visual and Fine Arts in Saskatchewan
- History and Culture of Southern Saskatchewan
- History and Culture of Regina and surrounding communities
- University of Regina Authors and Authors represented in Archives
- Environmental and Social Activism
- Journalism
2.3 Retention and Weeding
- Every two years the Federal Government Collection will be crosschecked against digitized publications provided through Government of Canada Publications and items that have been digitized will be removed to save space.
- For all government publications, if an item has multiple copies and does not have a digitized version, only one copy will be retained.
- Ephemera and pamphlets are not retained. Those that have long-standing interest and support core and selective collections will be kept.
- Any publications on obsolete or out of date technology (CD-ROMs, diskettes) will be removed unless they meet the following criteria for retention and preservation:
- content not available in currently used formats
- content fits the criteria for core or selective collections.
