The first stream in WGST is called “Women and Science”. It is focused upon women's and feminist’s contributions and challenges to the areas of technology and science. The stream's rationale is:
1. to challenge the history and philosophy of science’s frequent exclusion of women;
2. to examine the contributions made by women to science, medicine, and technology across time and space;
3. to examine how science, medicine and technology impact on women’s lives and
4. to examine the variations of theory construction as they emerge from within a feminist paradigm.
The courses in this stream consist of WGST 201 (Women, The Environment and Change) and WGST 280AB (Women and Reproductive Technology: Ancient and Modern).
