Question: There are so many styles and I am not sure which I should use for my paper.
Answer: Your instructor may have a preference as to which style guide they want you to use. If they do not have a preference use the following guidelines for deciding which is best for your assignment.
APA:
What it is used for:
The American Psychological Association's style guide is primarily used in the social sciences (including psychology) as well as increasingly in the natural and health sciences as well. Be sure to use the most up-to-date revision (presently the sixth edition).

MLA:
What it is used for:
The Modern Language Association's style guide is most often used for the humanities (such as English, history and philosophy). Be sure to use the most up-to-date revision (presently the seventh edition).
