Each broad academic disciplinary area has developed its own ways of creating citations, resulting in the use of several different style guides across the University. Generally, your instructor will recommend a citation style for you to use. If you are unsure about which style to use, check with your instructor. What all the styles have in common is providing the essential identifying information about sources so that a reader can quickly and easily find the sources being referenced.
