Persuasive Essay

For a persuasive essay assignment, books can give a broad and detailed overview of your topic, and articles can give timely and focused perspectives on your topic. You can find both books and articles using QuickFind:

  1. Enter search terms related to your research.
  2. For books:
    1. On your results page, click on "Books" under "Resource Type" on the left side of the page. During campus closures, you may also want to select "Full Text Online" to find only digital books.
    2. If you're not seeing useful books, alter your search terms, or use the "Refine Your Search" tools on the left side of the page.
    3. Once you find a book you'd like to access, click on the title. For digital books, click the link under "View It." For print books during campus closures, you may request the book for delivery or pickup: https://library.uregina.ca/covid-19/requests
  3. For articles:
    1. On your results page, click on "Articles" or "Newspaper Articles" under "Resource Type" on the left side of the page. Most articles are digital, but you can also select "Full Text Online" if you prefer.
    2. If you're not seeing useful articles, alter your search terms, or use the "Refine Your Search" tools on the left side of the page.
    3. Once you find an article you'd like to access, click on the title. For digital articles, click the link under "View It." For print articles during campus closures, you may request the article for delivery or pickup: https://library.uregina.ca/covid-19/requests

If you would like to extend your search beyond Quick Find, you can use targeted databases for your topic (https://library.uregina.ca/az/databases, and see below for a list of newspaper databases). You can also use Google Scholar (https://login.libproxy.uregina.ca:8443/login?url=https://scholar.google.ca/) to find scholarly articles using the familiar Google interface.
