RLST 228-L01: Christianity (M. Wagner): Searching for books

Basic Search

When searching for books, you'll use the Quick Find catalogue (see Where to Start tab).  Once there, type in your keyword(s) or search terms, toggle on "Search in Full Text" to expand your search to the full text of our e-resources. and then limit your results (on the left) to Books or Book Chapters under Resource Type.

You can further limit your results by publication date, subject, language, home library, etc. as needed.

Your list of results will include both ebooks and print books in all four of the academic libraries on campus.

For more tips and video tutorials on using Quick Find, please see Archer Library's Quick Find LibGuide.

Advanced Search

You can use an Advanced Search when needing to string together more than one keyword with search operator words, like and, or or not.

An Advanced Search can also help you locate items by title, author, and more.

Click on the image below for a video that will demonstrate how to do an Advanced Keyword search, a Title search and an Author search.

Requesting access to printed material

The quickest and most efficient way to obtain a printed book located at one of the U of R Libraries is to physically go to its home library, find the item on the shelf, and take it and your ID card to that library's borrowing desk to check out.

However, there are alternate options to those who cannot easily access campus:

  • pick-up books at the library of your choice (note that if you select a pick-up location that differs from the item's home library, it may take a couple of days for the item to get to its pick-up location)
  • mail delivery to your home (outside of Regina, within Canada)
  • digital delivery (where permitted by licenses and copyright)

See the videos below to learn how to place these requests in Quick Find.

Note:due to copyright regulations, we cannot provide an electronic scan of an entire book, nor can we digitize any sections of commercial textbooks.
