Learning how to take thorough and accurate notes can help you avoid plagiarism.  

  • Write down all the information that you will need to properly cite your source (author, year, title, etc.)
  • Use quotation marks to indicate direct quotes from the original source
  • Make note of page numbers information was obtained from
  • Clearly indicate which are your own thoughts/ideas/opinions, eg. with square brackets or a different coloured font
