Saskatchewan Politics Research Guide: The Gazette

A guide to starting research on Saskatchewan Politics

What's a Gazette?

In the British parliamentary tradition the Gazette was an official or semi-official publication that published government and military appointments, announced the amendment, enactment and repeal of laws and at one time the intention to marry (marriage bans) and also marital dissolutions.  In certain jurisdictions such as Bermuda this gazette eventually became a newspaper while in others such as Saskatchewan it has remained strictly a government publication.
