Justice Studies - Canadian Justice System: Key Government Resources

A guide to basic library resources for Justice Studies students studying the Canadian Justice System.

How to search government websites

It is quick and easy to search government websites.

1. Go to http://www.google.ca

2. type site: followed directly by the name of the government website.

3. type your search term.

Example: site:parl.gc.ca "bill 30"

Popular government websites: gc.ca (all federal government websites) parl.gc.ca (Parliament website), justice.gc.ca (Department of Justice), legassembly.sk.ca/hansard (debates of the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly).  This strategy also works for all other non-governmental websites: site:admin.uregina.ca searches the website of the Faculty of Business Administation at the University of Regina.

Other tips: do you want to just search for pdfs?  Type *.pdf after your search term!
