Political Science: Reference Books

Dictionaries

It is important to understand the meaning of words.  In academics many words are used in a very particular sense.  Subject dictionaries give us a sense of how words are used within the discipline.

Reference Works

Encyclopedias are more extensive in their coverage and deeper in their depth than are subject dictionaries.  These are excellent and authoritative places to start when you are starting a new research project or need good general introductory information on a subject.  The following link to political science encyclopedias and subject guides that are available in the Archer library.
