Corpus de la première littérature francophone d'Afrique noire = Corpus of the First Francophone Literature from Black Africa.
Full text collection covering the entire French speaking Sub-Saharan Africa, from Benin to Togo, representing about twenty countries and more than a hundred ethnic groups. Includes oral and written literatures from the origins to Independence. The written literature comes from works widely distributed or from publications with a local or temporary distribution, such as periodicals, parish bulletins, school report books, etc. The oral literature was collected by monks, civil servants, soldiers and French, foreign, or local academics--including dictionaries, grammars, and early 19th century teaching methods of African languages. Bilingual versions are given for every French text that has a counterpart in an African language.
