Series I on New Readerships provides access to close to 100 periodicals for the study of British life in the 19th century - from women to sports and leisure, and from children to humour. It is mainly based on the repositories of the British Library and the National Library of Scotland.
This second series is devoted to Empire: Travel and Anthropology, Economics, Missionary and Colonial. It includes titles from India, Canada, South and East Africa, Australia and New Zealand alongside British titles, and covers both the economic and non-mercantile aspects of British expansionism.
