Research Data Management

Data Management Plan Rubric

The Digital Research Alliance of Canada has released a Data Management Plan Rubric. This rubric is standardized for use alongside the Alliance Simplified Template (Funding Application Stage) which can be found and utilized within the DMP Assistant Platform. The Alliance Simplified Template and the Alliance Simplified Template Rubric have been developed specifically to help researchers in meeting DMP requirements imposed by funders, including the Tri-Agencies.

The purpose of the rubric is to provide a general framework for assisting with the development of good quality DMPs. The rubric provides detailed information and guidance to assist with answering the questions in the Alliance Simplified Template, as this may be helpful for researchers, librarians, and anyone writing or evaluating a DMP.

As both the Alliance Simplified Template and rubric are generalist resources, some of the questions and/or information provided may not be relevant for all research projects. The resources created and provided by the Alliance are intended to be widely applicable, and administrators/users of these materials (template and rubric) are welcome to modify them to meet any local requirements.

Data Management Plans (DMPs)

A Data Management Plan (DMP) is a document created by a researcher that outlines organization, storage, and sharing research data throughout the life of the project. A DMP is a living document that can be revised to reflect changes in the course of your research.

It is a high level plan: no private data is exposed.
