Helpful Hints

What is a library database?

Search library databases for information from published sources including journals, magazines, newspapers, videos, encyclopedias, and books. There are different kinds of databases and most are based around a subject area.

What is a journal?

A journal is an academic magazine published on a regular basis. Journals contain research and articles written by experts. Peer-reviewed or scholarly journals go through an editing process where experts review submissions before they are published. This helps ensure the quality and trustworthiness of the research or information presented in the article.

What is an article?

An article is a piece of writing found in a newspaper, magazine, or journal. Articles found in journals are often (but not always) written by experts, evidence-based, aimed at a specific audience, and include references.
