EZProxy to Open Athens announcement

The Dr. John Archer Library & Archives is excited to announce our new authentication system for access to electronic resources! Users will enjoy the same level of access as before, but with several additional benefits:

Log in and access electronic materials directly from publisher and journal websites
Use of Shibboleth Single-Sign On (SSO) will reduce the amount of times users need to log in
Greater privacy and security than previous authentication methods

Please note that EZProxy links will still work as the Library is transitioning to this new system. For questions, please email Library.Help@uregina.ca.

oURspace Migration Project

The University of Regina’s institutional repository, oURspace, will be migrating to a new national repository platform, Scholaris. As a result, oURspace will be unavailable from Monday, August 18 to Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

Once the migration is complete, oURspace will have a new URL. Redirects from the old address will be set up to help users transition smoothly.

Open APIs at the University of Regina

At the University of Regina, researchers use open APIs (Application Programming Interface) to design and study search interfaces that enable better experiences for users doing extensive, ongoing research.

Recent Posts

"Lest We Forget," "We Will Remember Them," and "All gave some, some gave all"

Archer Library & Archives has more eye-catching displays to help commemorate Remembrance Day. The first is near the main entrance that includes a curated display of books. The second is on a table (by the Dr. John Archer wall plaque) that has veteran recognition cards. These can be filled out and they will be collected and sent to the Regina Legion. The third display (curated by student Mason Hausermann) is in the large display cabinet by the IS Desk. We also have a digital collection titled Operation Calvados. The collection helps preserve the lives and stories of past and present Regina Riflemen and honour those who were killed in action during the June 6, 1944 D-Day landings and the resulting Normandy campaign....

Art in Archer Winners

The Archer Library & Archives along with the faculties of MAP (Media, Art, and Performance) and Science sincerely thank all the individuals who participated in the Art in Archer event on Oct. 23. The Art in Archer event invited participants to create artwork, in a number of different mediums, based on images from the U of R's herbarium collection. All 25 submissions were beautiful creations! Congratulations to the 3 winners who were chosen separately by 3 different adjudicators: U of R President winner: Pressley Hinck Art in Archer judges panel winner: Dakota Schmidt People's Choice (Instagram voting) winner: Danveer Singh Unfortunately there was an internal miscommunication with the number of entries received and thus we failed to include the artwork created by Emma Shogren as part of the social media voting post. Sorry Emma! As a consolation we are awarding Emma an Honorable Mention for her creation. We will have a display in the Library in the Winter 2026 term of all the art works and comments from participants from Art in Archer....

Regina College Memorial Scroll of Honour

As we look ahead to Remembrance Day, Archer is pleased to launch our Regina College Memorial Scroll of Honour digital collection. The collection features biographies of fourteen of the people whose names appear on the Second World War scroll in the holdings of the University Archives. The biographies were researched and written by Emily Reid as part of her experiential learning placements with the Royal Regina Rifles Trust Fund and the University of Regina Archives. Proceedings of the Canadian Nuclear Society

The Dr. John Archer Library and Archives is pleased to announce the launch of Proceedings of the Canadian Nuclear Society.The full run of conference proceedings (1979 – present) from the Canadian Nuclear Society (CNS) are now fully open to the University of Regina community and can be accessed here: CNS Since its inception, the CNS has held regular conferences and produced proceedings covering all areas relating to nuclear science and technology and its applications, including topics such as public consultation on nuclear waste; advances in medical diagnostics and cancer treatment; and uranium mining and refining. As of 2024, over 7000 conference papers have been published. The Dr. John Archer Library and Archives thanks the CNS for working with us to make this collection open to University of Regina researchers for the first time and providing open access to some of the collection’s content to researchers in Canada and around the world. For those outside of the University, the most recent CNS conference proceedings will continue to require a CNS membership to access but will now become openly available after an embargo of ten years.
