Community Scholars Program

The Dr. John Archer Library at the University of Regina is pleased to announce our partnership with the Community Scholars Program.

The Community Scholars Program envisions a future in which Canadian nonprofit organizations are using, producing, and sharing research in order to build capacity and enhance their impacts in our communities.

The Community Scholars Program (CSP) is led nationally by Simon Fraser University Library and in Prairies North region by MacEwan University's John L. Haar Library. CSP provides staff working in non-profits and charitable organizations with free access to academic journals and research.

Many researchers in Canada and around the world are studying complex problems and possible solutions and publishing their findings in peer-reviewed journals. These journals and the specialized databases used to access them are largely inaccessible to the more than 170,000 non-profit and charitable organizations in Canada doing important work on social issues including poverty alleviation, homelessness, education, and health care -- unless they are affiliated with a university or research institute. CSP provides staff working at these organizations with access to academic titles and databases at no cost. In addition, the program provides research support and consultations with librarians.
