Chicago AUTHOR-DATE style

For assignments in this course you have been asked to use the Chicago Author-Date style of citation. (Keep in mind that this is different than the Chicago Notes and Bibliography style!) Helpful information on using this citation style is available in the following locations:

  • The online Chicago Manual of Style is available through the U of R Libraries, and Chapter 15 provides information on the Author-Date style.
  • Purdue University's OWL website has a handy Chicago Author-Date sample paper with formatting and citation tips.
    • (IMPORTANT: Please note that the OWL's Chicago Style guide describes the Notes and Bibliography style, so please ONLY use the sample paper above for Author-Date style, not the rest of the website!)
